This trip to Mexico took us to the city of Cuautla, a couple of hours southeast of Mexico City by bus even though the city lies just 60 miles away. We worked with several churches throughout the city.

One of the main projects involved adding a third floor to the district office of a local church leader. This addition provides the area with a specific location to train workers in many different aspects of church ministry. People receiving training include pastors, teachers, youth workers, children’s workers and more.

At two other churches in the city, the team painted the interior of buildings. One of the buildings took a couple of days to paint and the other was completed in one day.

Another exciting opportunity developed while on this trip. One of the pastors made it possible for members of the team to travel throughout the city telling people about the love of God. Team members traded off afternoons of going door to door or to the market to talk to people.

Jimmy’s Afternoon: “After traveling over several blocks meeting people and passing out tracts and Bibles, some of the people in our group backed away from a particular house. The interpreter informed me the house belongs to the local witch. Some of the people showed physical signs of being intimidated by the idea of the witch. They were walking out in the street to stay away from the witch's house. I took a Bible and tract and went to the door to give this person an opportunity to find God. Both items were summarily refused.

While this is not a testimony of a radical change in the life of a witch, it was a great opportunity for people to see we serve the one true God and should not fear evil. Before moving on, we prayed for the witch and felt the Spirit of God moving. The day will come when the witch will stand before God. I am glad we gave her family an opportunity to live for God. Many other great opportunities presented themselves throughout the afternoon.”

On one night, the team participated in a big children’s event. Almost 100 neighborhood children packed into a room to play games, sing and learn about God. We had a big pinata that provided lots of laughs, smiles and candy for the kids. This event was one of the highlights of the trip.

To God be the glory for lives touched during the meetings with people, hard work and other aspects of this trip.
