We returned to Fiji to partner with Vasaeri Lighthouse church again. Seven years ago, we worked with a team to finish the church building. Since that time, the church flourished. This year, we had the privilege of celebrating the churches progress and providing help for the church's future.
Since our last visit, the church has added an addition to the building for an office/study area and the worship team's ministry. The church now has a small store to provide basic goods to people in the area. Also, the church farms various crops to help feed some children in need and pay for various improvements to the church property.
Our main focus during our time together involved Kid's Club meetings and training local people to minister to children. Four churches participated in the training sessions which took place in the mornings. The training covered everything from the need for children's ministry to planning the ministry to organizing the time with children. One session focused on the proper use of puppets and had each person design his/her own puppet. There were lots of laughs and some sore shoulders and hands as the people learned and practiced new skills.
In the afternoon (shortly after children got out of school), we help the Kid's Club. We averaged 120 children in the Kid's Clubs. The first day, we also had about 30 adults watching the festivities. Many of these adults are parents of the children attending the meeting at the church for the first time. So, some of the adults were introduced to the church for the first time because of the Kid's Clubs.
We ministered to the church during Sunday services and were thrilled to see every chair occupied in the church. DeAnna spoke to women in a special Women Only meeting. Some women had walked for over an hour to attend this meeting. We also shared in a special youth meeting to speak to teens and young adults.
We are still amazed at how God is using Pastor Moses and the Lighthouse Church to reach more people in their area than ever before. Pastor Moses has become a visionary leader looking to move the church forward for years to come. Since our time of training, the church now hosts a Kid's Club twice a month. Children walk from miles around or take the local bus to attend these special meetings. Lighthouse Church is becoming an innovative leader of children's ministry in their area thanks to your prayers, support and financial contributions.
