Monterrey, Mexico is a beautiful city of over 5 million people living in the Sierra Madre mountains. Driving into Monterrey during the darkness of night was a great experience as an expanse of lights lit the valley as far as the eye could see when descending the mountain pass.

On this project, Clear Vision Ministries partnered with Solid Rock Resources and a number of youth ministries from Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana. As always, meeting these new friends (and some I remember from years ago) was a great highlight of this trip. Everyone on the entire team did a great job of working hard and keeping positive attitudes even when things did not go as planned.

For three days, the team of people spent time at a local soccer field near the base of some mountains providing games, puppet shows, skits and fun for kids in the area as well as Bible based object lessons. After a somewhat slow day (hindered by some travel difficulties) on the first day, around 150 kids came out for the Kid’s Club on the second and third days.

At night, a drama presentation was provided for children and adults. The crowds on the soccer field where we were located were fair with many other people in the surrounding area listening and watching from a distance. Out of these two events taking place, many people made decisions to follow God in their lives. We worked with a local pastor and encouraged each person to attend a church located a couple of blocks from where we were.

One of the main reasons for this project was to explore the possibilities of returning to Monterrey in the future to build a church or churches. The El Salvador Church of Monterrey currently has 3 pieces of property they would like to build churches on. This project may yield ongoing projects in this part of Mexico for a number of years to come.
